Around 120 million people live from coffee around the world. In Colombia there are 539,708 coffee growing families and around 853,809 hectares are planted with the country's emblematic product, data that evidences the relevance of coffee in the world economy, which is why the SENA Caldas, through its Coffee Training Center, will hold from July 26th to 29th the First World Symposium of the Coffee Production Chain: "Coffee with a Focus on Global Referencing for Local Application.
"I invite all the actors of the links in the coffee production chain to participate in this symposium, which due to the circumstances brought about by covid-19 will be virtual. This is something that without a doubt we should capitalize on, since any person, regardless of their place of residence, will be able to access the knowledge that this free academic event will bring, in which AgroSENA and our Research, Technological Development and Research System (SENNOVA) also participate", stated José Bernardo González Betancurth, subdirector of the Coffee Training Center in the SENA, Caldas" .
The event, which will be certified by the Italian Latin American (IILA), it will include exhibitors from Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Holland, Argentina and Colombia, who will address topics related to coffee production, the coffee cultural landscape, crop technification, commercialization, agro-industrialization, ecotourism, agro-tourism, sustainability, circular economy, orange economy and marketing of organic coffees.
Luis Alejandro Trejos Ruiz, director of SENA Caldas, also called on the country's academic community in areas related to the agricultural sector to register and participate in the symposium, which will bring together 31 experts in the field for four days.
"Democratizing knowledge is one of the main objectives of this type of events that we also call knowledge transfer. The call to students of higher education is oriented towards inviting them to take advantage of this symposium that will allow them to learn about the prospective of the coffee sector with an international vision", added Trejos Ruiz.
